Wisdom and Tea: Reflections of Muslim Home-making Moms

Think. Learn. Act. Remind.

Define your own happiness

Sometimes I think a lot of us could be happy with a lot of things exactly as they are. It’s the opinions of how life should be that are constantly drilled into us which make us question whether how we are is how it should be. No one can, though everyone almost always does, define what makes you happy or what is right for you. Specially where families are concerned; some families go out together, others the dad is out more, in others the mom. Some are happy as an independent unit, others as a larger joint family.
If we were to closely examine how we live, filtering out all the other opinions by people, movies , magazines, maybe we would find that we are actually happy the way we are. Its when we try to ‘get what others have’ that we start feeling discontented with how we live. Allah in His infinite mercy may have granted us exactly what we need to be happy, but we just can’t see it.
“…and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know.” 2.216
